A2 drone licence
Fly drones up to 4 kg close to people. 2 h of online training and a webcam-supervised exam. Requires the A1/A3.
- Study material updated to the current regulations
- Preparation for the official AESA exam (30 questions, 75% to pass)
- Instructor support throughout the course
Who is it for?
Leisure
You want to fly a Mini or an Air at the beach, in the countryside or on holiday. The A1/A3 is enough: start there.
Photo and video
You shoot weddings, property or landscapes and need to get close to people and buildings with a drone over 250 g.
New professional
You are going to work with drones in urban environments. The A2 is the natural step before the STS.
What you can and cannot do
The limits are set by Regulation (EU) 2019/947. This is what the A2 certificate allows, on top of what the A1/A3 already covers.
- Fly up to 120 m above the ground
- Class C2 drones (up to 4 kg) at 30 m from uninvolved people, or 5 m in low-speed mode
- Operate in urban and residential environments within the open category
- Always fly within visual line of sight (VLOS), by day and at night with lights
- Recreational and professional use within the open category
- Fly over assemblies of people
- Fly over uninvolved people: only the A1 allows that, with C0 or C1 drones
- Fly drones over 4 kg close to people: beyond that, the specific category (STS)
- Fly beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) or in controlled airspace without coordination
- Sit the exam without holding the A1/A3 and the practical self-training declaration

The AESA exam is free. Why train with Vister rather than alone?
It is free and it will stay free: Vister does not charge for the exam. What you pay for is arriving prepared.
